The 2013 Class of Michigan is one of the best and deepest ever. But there can only be one Mr Basketball. Now it should be giving based on high school season only. If that is the case players that do so much for their team, like Bishop Robinson at Loy Norrix, Luke Ryskamp at Schoolcraft, Dontel Highsmith at Dowigac or even Josh Kozinski from Edwardsburg would be in the discussion...
But considering how the voting usually goes, need to be going to a big time school, and usually an in state school, that would make Derrick Walton the favorite. Monte Morris, James Young and Vince Hunter should also be in the top 5.
If I had a vote, which I don't anymore, I would vote for Morris or Walton. Morris has had the team sucess, State Champs last year, plus been to breslin ever year, while also putting up great numbers while making his teammates better. Walton's team hasn't had the team sucess as Morris has, but they are having a good year, and should meet Country Day in regionals where they winner would have a great chance to win the Class B crown. Walton controls the game and scores as well, he also makes his teammates better, and since he is committed to Michigan, he should get a lot of votes from the states coaches. Then there is Young, nationally known, and committed to Kentucky. He puts up great numbers, and also has not much to work with, but he has not helped his team have much sucess, so that may hurt him.
Right now, today, I would go with
1) Walton
2) Morris
3) Hunter
4) Highsmith
5) Young
As the top 5.. With Robinson getting a lot of consideration, because of the numbers he puts up, and how little help he also has around him.
